atelier is a small publication that documents female artists in Scotland. The project was produced in collaboration with all the artists involved. They generously shared their stories, their spaces, and their work with me. This publication is a true reflection of their generosity, strength, and creativity. 
Over time, I became increasingly aware of how underrepresented female artists are—not only in art schools but also in the wider gallery space. I wanted to create a publication that specifically showcases the work of female artists, shining a light on artistic talent that often goes unrecognised and overlooked. Despite making up over 73% of the UK’s postgraduate art student population, female artists remain vastly underrepresented in art institutions worldwide.
Within the arts, women face unique challenges and offer vital new perspectives, yet they continue to be overlooked. Thankfully, the conversation is beginning to shift, and this publication aims to contribute to that dialogue—celebrating the wealth of female artistic talent in Scotland and offering a platform for their voices to be heard.
