Brief Notes on the Passing of Time

The passing of time is something that we all must come to terms with. We experience change throughout life and have to adjust and adapt, accepting a loss of control over the things that we cannot change. We learn to let go, a luxury that comes with ageing. This work deals with loss; the loss of time, the loss of a home and the loss of the past, something that in time we all must come to terms with and accept throughout life. Through the power of visual notes this work tackles loss in later life, the imagery reflecting a sense of quiet and stillness commonly associated with this period of life. Text is used in dialogue with the images to express a sense of finding happiness. The work uses both image and text, exploring the way that these two mediums can work towards and against each other. This work is as much about happiness as it is about loss, as this is something that we must find and strive for throughout life. Also touching on the importance of stillness in an ever-changing world; appreciating life’s simplicities and to learn to let go.
